Oil Paintings
Oil paints offer a rich and vibrant way to capture the beauty of life, with the thick layers of texture and seamless blending skills, it takes a lifetime to fully grasp the techniques. Achieving a sense of peace in a painting can be quite challenging. It requires not only technical skill also a deep understanding of color harmony and composition. The process can be both rewarding and frustrating, but the outcome is always worth the time and patience necessary.

"Wing Ridden Angel"
In the depths of my lowest moments, i found myself engulfed in a profound sense of loneliness and despair. This painting serves as a raw depiction of those depression and isolation, capturing the shadows of anguish that lingered in my mind. It was through this lonely struggle that I discovered the cathartic power of art, allowing me to transform my pain into something profound, eye opening and put a microscope into the personification of mental health struggles.

"Beautiful Wildflower, Grow Untamed"
A complete juxtaposition of my last piece, I decided to encapsulate happiness; raw, open, natural joy. For most of my life I have battled the storm above my head, but I have always seen nature as our purest form. From raw bark to the wildflowers, nature brings a sense of peace and contentedness so powerful it fuels me for the days to follow.

"The Air We Breathe"

The last piece inspired me to pursue using solely treated wood canvas slabs to bring unique compositons, patterns and colours to each piece. This painting was inspired by the beautiful scottish forrests what we face to lose if we continue our abuse of AI and deforestation.

"Witch's Apothecary"
Commissioned by a wonderful woman I have known a long time, we chose to incorporate an 'untamed' fun depiction of a forest local to a witch's cottage, Choosing a deep autumn colour palette, the spots of vibrant red draw the eye, masterfully hiding a toad in the chaos. The cut of this specific wood was a personal favourite of mine.

"Deafening Calm"
The paradox of crashing waves on a wooden canvas I found amusing whilst creating, where the fluidity of water contrasts sharply with rigidity of wood. The natural grain of the canvas adds an earthy texture that grounds the scene. This juxtaposition invites the viewer to reflect on the harmony between nature's chaos and instability, creating a captivating visual experience that resonates deeply.

In brief moments where I doubt my work or feel a disconnection, I paint on smaller canvas' to challenge myself. Despite all the chaos life throws at us, as an artist we can bring to life a world of peace through our creativity. Though smaller in size, each "recharge" (as i call them) is mighty in helping my inspiration flow whilst bringing me comfort and solace.
